Who is eligible for palliative Care?
Anyone who has a physician’s order and whose diagnosis of a serious illness is eligible for palliative care.
Where can palliative care be provided?
Palliative care can be provided in a private home, nursing facility, assisted living facility or in a hospital.
Are there any restrictions with palliative care?
There are no restrictions with palliative care. Patients may continue to receive curative/life-prolonging treatment.
What are the costs associated with palliative care consultations?
- Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance programs cover the costs of palliative care consultations.
- Palliative care consultations do not preclude other providers from billing for their services.
- For people without reimbursement for healthcare, we provide charity care when needed.
